1. Medical Officer

Back ground

The Artemis Clinical Trials Group is offering 1 position of medical officer to participate in a phase II clinical trial, designed to determine the efficacy, safety, dosing regimen and pharmacokinetic profile of a novel antimalarial agent for the management of uncomplicated and severe malaria in children. The study will be conducted at Lira Medical Center (LMC), located in Lira town. The successful candidate is expected to be based in Lira town, throughout the study period.

 

Specific duties will include

  • - Identify all potential patients for screening
    - Subject potential study patients to the eligibility criteria for enrollment
    - Obtain informed consent from all patients willing to participate in the study.
    - Conduct a clinical evaluation of enrolled patients on the day of enrollment and follow-up
    - To obtain appropriate samples (blood, urine, etc) for relevant tests to be conducted during the study.
    - Train and supervise all study staff
    - To be involved in data entry quality control
    - To participate in the generation of reports
    - To monitor and report the development of adverse events in patients who receive the study drug.
    - Facilitate high-quality medical record keeping

    REPORTS TO: Study Coordinator

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBChB
    - Completion of Internship
    - Active registration with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
    - Demonstrated experience in a similar job or research field (preferred)
